Amy R Nielsen, INHC, Chef, Herbalist

I am a classically trained Chef and journeyman Herbalist. I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. I work extensively with fermented foods and beverages. As an avid amateur food historian, I reach back in time to listen to the wisdom of our Grands. I am also trained in Shambala meditation for children.

I am currently in the second half of my graduate studies in Integrative Clinical Nutrition at the Maryland University of Integrative Health.

Practice Philosophy

My work centers on creating holistic lifestyle protocols based in body, mind, and spiritual practice for patients diagnosed with IBD while understanding the implications of current western medical treatments. Together we work towards achieving long term remission. I also work with clients living with other conditions that benefit from lifestyle and dietary changes, including autism spectrum and autoimmune conditions. My focus is to shape habits through body, mind, and spiritual avenues to create a lifestyle of wellness that supports a healing gut.

Classes

I am developing more classes all the time. If you have a specific topic you would like covered, message me and I’ll see what we can work out.

I am currently offering live classes in the North East quardant of the US. I travel from Virginia to Maine and west to the Ohio border. I offer skype and phone consultations to those outside this area. If you are looking for live classes outside that area, please message me – I love to travel and the chance to explore somewhere new is very welcome. I will be hosting live online classes starting in the Fall 2018. View the Calendar.

Blog and Research

I am currently a graduate student at the Maryland University of Integrative Health in the Clinical Nutrition program. I am facinated by how we become us and the transition point between out there and in here. My passion is understanding metabolic pathways and how to acheive systemic balance and harmony. I am researching IBD, specifically Crohn’s disease. From time to time, I will post new blog content pertaining to specific topics relating to Crohn’s disease. Many of these will have been written as assignments for my graduate classes. All works are my own and all material otherwise is APA referenced.
